Quotes of the Week!

A note from Joelle...

I haven't done a quotes post in ages, so apologies for that! Here are some awesome and inspirational ones that I found this week.

'What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal.' ~ Albert Pine.

'Its easy to stand with the crowd,it takes courage to stand alone.'

'Keep cool and you command everybody.'

Boho Traveller Backpacks YAY or NAY?

A note from Joelle...
I spotted lots of hipsters in my college sporting this mini textured rucksacks a few months ago and I have to admit, I hated the look of them! I think it was the way they just hung from people's shoulders and looked really scruffy!
However, as most of you know, I went to Sicily for a geography thing and had to buy a practical (yet really cute) backpack. I found the cute rucksacks in Topshop, Urban Outfitters, etc. But there was much more variety in Primark, which I was not expecting!

Striped Denim Backpack
Blue Acid Wash Backpack

Neoprene Backpack

Bright Aztec Backpack
Striped Canvas BackpackLeather Aztec Backpack
£38 + £58

And here's mine (Primark - £8!!)
I chose this one over the amazing Union Jack one I saw because I own allot of Union Jack items already!

So what do you think of these bags? YAY or NAY

Belles Of The Ball: The Best Dressed At The Met Gala 2012

A note from Joelle...
The stars turned out in full force to celebrate the opening of the Prada and Schiaparelli exhibition. *Please note that this is completely my opinion.

In no particular order, here are my top best dressed celebrities from the Night of the Gala:

Model Doutzen Kroes in a Roland Mouret monochrome dress.

Scarlett Johansson in a Dolce and Gabbana mermaid gown

Emma Stone in a red dress custom-designed by Alber Elbaz for Lanvin.
Leighton Meester in a Marchesa autumn/winter 2012-13 nude tulle dress
Jessica Alba in a Michael Kors gold lamé dress
Lana Del Rey in a custom-made Joseph Altuzarra silver dress and black cape
Amy Adams in a Giambattista Valli couture asymmetric gown
Lea Michele in a Diane von Furstenberg plunging neckline sequin gown.

Bee Schaffer in an Erdem autumn/winter 2012-13 electric blue printed dress

Camilla Belle in a Ralph Lauren Collection spring/summer 2012 ivory tulle beaded dress

Dianna Agron in an emerald green Carolina Herrera gown.

Anja Rubik in an Anthony Vaccarello white gown
(Her incredibly skinny frame was a talking point, however!)
Michelle Dockery in a Ralph Lauren Collection strapless gown with gold bodice.

Question Wednesday: Spring Edition!

A note from Joelle...

1. What is your favourite season and why?
Summer and Autumn are my favourite seasons. I live in England so the weather changes so much and is pretty unreliable, but Summer over here is always good and I love Autumn because it's so festive (Guy Fawkes Night, fireworks, Halloween, etc.) and the build-up to Christmas is the best feeling. It's always cosy in Autumn months and the fashion is great!
2. What is your favourite flower?
I love tulips and fuchsias - the colours are unreal!
3. What is the current trend that you love, but haven't or wouldn't try? (if you are fearless, what is one that you have tried and loved)
Galaxy/Cosmic print - I would just look silly.
4. How would you spend an ideal spring day?
I would love to go for a picnic on the downs or somewhere beautiful. I really loving finding cute bakeries and cafes in London and Surrey as well, so sitting there with a cup of Early Grey and a book is perfect..
5. What do you love most about the spring months?
This might sound weird, but, the breeze. There really is nothing like the British Spring breeze as it's so refreshing (and very cold!) I love the flowers too!

Very's DeeV Event with Diana Vickers

A note from Joelle...

Last Thursday, I went down to Very HQ to see the amazing new Very collection by Diana Vickers called DeeV. I had never been invited to a glamorous and exclusive event like this before, so I was incredibly astounded when I got the email!
Thankfully I met up with the lovely Hannah from Lippy In London and Sam from Honey Go-Lightly beforehand!
I wore a vintage black shift dress with a big rose print on it, Baroque print silk scarf (eBay) black lace print pumps (H and M) and a magnifying glass necklace from Eclectic Eccentricity.
We were warmly welcomed by the Very Team and treated to nibbles and Champagne throughout the afternoon.
Diana Vickers then amazed us with an acoustic set of her début Number 1 hit song 'Once' and a new song called 'Music To Make Boys Cry'.
I met some pretty awesome bloggers and had an awesome time. If you are a blogger, I recommend that you check out the Very Blogger Network to keep up to date with latest collections and trends!
I noticed that the collection was fully of interesting prints and textures, so I asked Diana what her favourite print was. She is a big fan of snakeskin and leopard print - which means she is not afraid to stand out and wear amazingly bold prints!

The Very Team spoiled us rotten with lovely canapés, cakes and Champagne!

Jenny Packham: Timeless Glamour

A note from Joelle...
OK, so I was at the bus stop in town getting ready to go home from college and there it was... A stunning 1920s flapper wedding dress standing in the window of a wedding dress boutique. I honestly fell in love with it and needed to know who the designer was ASAP.
You guys probably don't know that I am rather good at sourcing out information with little leads so I found the designer and the name of the dress quite quickly.
Jenny Packham. I had never actually heard of this label but many A-list celebs seem to be really into her designs - including the Duchess of Cambridge (K Mid)!
As much as I love the current trends of pastels, collared shirts and cosmic print, I have never stopped loving 1920s old Hollywood  flapper style dresses and accessories - So Jenny Packham designs are perfect!
I wish I was getting married because the first (and probably only) designer I would look at would be Jenny Packham! It's true love!
