Baroque 'n' Roll (Part 2)

A note from Joelle...
So it seems, everyone has jumped on the Baroque-themed fashion bandwagon... awesome! I hoped that it would catch on this season and I have not been disappointed. Black and gold is already HUGE this season, not only on the catwalk but on the highstreet too! Just pop into your local River Island, Primark or New Look and you well see a sea of black and gold metallic goodies, Baroque chain prints and glossy embellishments on handbags.

Fancy (But Fuss Free) Nutella & Oreo Cheesecake

A note from Joelle...

This recipe is so simple it's crazy! It is just a regular chilled cheesecake recipe, but served in  fancy dessert glasses. It just makes it look extra classy and it tastes delicious too!

You will need:
10 packets of oreos cookies
A jar of Nutella
A tub of marscapone cream cheese
Melted butter
Icing sugar
Vanilla extract
Berries to garnish (optional)
Rolling pin
Plastic sandwich bag
Dessert dishes/cocktail glasses
Mixing bowl
Spoon

Place the Oreo cookies into a plastic bag and whack it senseless with a rolling pin!  If you are not fond of food abuse then you can always blitz them in a food processor/blender.
If you get a few larger crumbs in the mix, don't worry! They add the extra crunch to the biscuit cheesecake base. Melt the butter in a separate pan and then slowly add to the Oreo crumbs, mixing to cover all the crumbs. The mixture should turn almost a black colour.
You now have your buttery biscuit base!<<< I dare you to click this link! Spoon generous amounts into each glass/dish, wrap with clingfilm and then place in the fridge to firm up for about an hour. If you cannot wait that long, place in the freezer for 30 mins.
While the base is firming up, mix the cream cheese, icing sugar and vanilla extract together. Slowly add the Nutella next. You can mix it all in ferociously to turn the whole thing brown or you can do the marbling effect, which creates cute swirls of chocolatey goodness!
Add the chocolatey-cheese mix to the now-firm biscuit base and smooth over with the back of a spoon.
Leave to chill in the fridge until you want to serve it!
Add a few strawberries cut into halves and then serve chilled.
Et voilà!

Style File #6: Rosie Fortescue

A note from Joelle...
No questions asked - this woman knows how to dress. She is mostly famous for the reality show 'Made In Chelsea', but she is also a blogger and animal charity patron. Find her blog HERE!
This Chelsea girl is known on the show for mainly wearing dark/burnt colours, but every know-and-then she offers a vibrant burst of contrasting block colours in her outfit when out and about.

Here, Rosie looked lovely in sleek straight trousers, silk blouse and Prada handbag as attended Voice of Women Awards. This is my favourite look of hers!

Rosie wears elegant pastels and floral here patent Prada bag. Cheska Hull ( also from MIC) mixes floral and black leather.

Limited Edition 'Pink Bubbly' Vaseline

A note from Joelle...
There is about to be a huge wave of beauty bloggers posting about the exact same product... Get ready!
This is the newest 'flavour' of Vaseline lip balm and boy, did it sell like hot cakes in the Oxford St. Selfridges last night! At £3.49 a tin, this is not the regular dry lip saviour, but instead now a luxury (and also limited) edition. What makes this special ( and a teeny bit more expensive is the Champagne grape extract that the petroleum jelly has been enriched in (oooo'er!).
*I own these photos but feel free to pin them!
So, does it actually do it's job as a lip balm? YES! Believe it or not, I find it less oily on my lips than the other flavours and my chapped lips do feel smoother. The only downside is that the pink rose-coloured tint does not show on your lips - which I thought it would. Oh well.
It is worth your £3.49? YES! It's a limited edition that will only be out for a short time. Keep your lips fabulous at all times with this new Vaseline and experience the smoother lips for yourself!

Banana and Nutella Layer Cake

A note from Joelle...
So, what do you do when you have a HUGE jar of Nutella and a bunch of overripe bananas? Make a banana and Nutella layer cake of course!
I took inspiration from Rose of The Londoner's 'Banana and Nutella Swirl Muffins'

Ingredients:

Self raising flour
4 medium eggs
Baking powder
Bananas
Nutella
Cinnamon
Greaseproof/baking paper
Butter (melted)
Caster sugar
Method:
Beat the eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy. Then add the melted butter and stir.
Make your overripe bananas feel loved! Mash them up into a mushy mess ( you can add your Nutella here if you like - or some vanilla extract).
Slowly fold in the flour, baking powder and cinnamon bit by bit in a figure of 8 motion, in order to trap in the air.
Mmmmmmmmmm...
Stir in the the mushy banana first and then the Nutella (as much as you like!). It doesn't matter if it looks ugly - it tastes and smells great! You can do the marbling pattern like this, or just stir it all together to make it all chocolatey brown.

Carefully pour the first batch into the lined and greased cake tin and place in the oven for 25 minutes.

Once cooled, assemble the layers with Nutella (or cream, fruit, nuts, etc. in the middle)

Layer two!

All three layers with decoration
