South Bank Food Market

A note from Joelle...
Open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday 8am-8pm below the Royal Festival Hall, South Bank, London. It's also really close to the street performers and cute gift stalls on the river bank.
We spent a lot of time here!

British Fashion Awards 2012: Best Dressed

A note from Joelle...
It was the British Fashion Awards last night at the Savoy Hotel (that's why #BFA was trending all over Twitter!) and this saw all the great designers, models ans celebrities honoured for their contribution to the British fashion industry (which is a massive achievement).
Stella McCartney took home both Designer Brand of the Year and Best Designer and Aelxa Chung won the British Style Award (for the third time)!
Have a look below to see who I thought were the best dressed on the night!
I was super excited that my favourite model, Cara Delevingne won the Model Of the Year Award. Her style and charisma is brilliant and she pulls the best comedy faces behind the scenes!

The Sunglasses Shop Competition

A note from Joelle...
I love wearing sunglasses! As of August 2011, I do not own many sunglasses so I would LOVE to win a pair of designer shades like the ones below. When I found this blogger competition, I jumped at the chance to enter!
Find out more about the competition here if you want to enter! Or if you just want to browse the great sunglasses store, click the link.
I want to win these Chanel glasses (please!)! Look how beautiful it is - oh my!
How would I style it? The attention shouldn't be taken away too much from the glasses, but I would style them with an embellished vest, boucle jacket and pencil trousers, low heels and a quilted bag. Check out teh look I created below!

Where would I wear it? Anywhere you want to get noticed! These would not only look great in the summer but all year round - day or night. Perusing around London or shopping on a day trip to Paris!

Which celebrity would wear this best? Kiera Knightly, Naomie Harris or Rosie Huntingtion-Whitely for sure. They could all wear these in totally different ways.

We Gonna Rock Down To FD Avenue!

A note from Joelle...

Oh my blog title puns/jokes are getting better and better! I discovered FD Avenue last month when a blogger promoted a discount code for the site. As I love a total bargain, I checked out the site and fell in love with the knitwear section instantly! I had never heard of FD Avenue before but I checks their twitter and found their vibe really friendly. So I placed an order and was so happy with the end result!

Closer look at the detail. This is the cosiest jumper I own! The material is also really soft, which is a bonus!
I also bought THIS jumper, but the picture was too blurry to upload - I need a new camera!

Winter Warmers #3: Posh Girl's Bakewell Flapjacks

A note from Joelle...
I thought I would name these Posh Girl's Flapjacks because these are not like the 'common' oats, butter and treacle flapjacks - oh no. These babies are scattered with tangy raspberry jam, irresistible almonds and fresh raspberries scattered over it.   'Totes amazeballs, yah?'
Remember, only use the best ingredients you Daddy can buy!
So here's how you make it! But keep this hush-hush, though! Private baking members only! ;)
A recent picture with just fresh raspberries, dried apricots and flaked almonds

Ingredients:
250g rolled or porridge oats
100g plain flour

150g ground almonds

100g melted (unsalted) butter

5 tbsp golden syrup

5 tbsp raspberry jam (or a whole punnet of fresh/frozen raspberries)

Sprinkle of flaked almonds

Method:
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C
2. Butter a baking tin and then set aside for later
3. Put the oats, flour and ground almonds in a large bowl and mix thoroughly.

4. Pour in the melted butter and syrup and then stir until all the oats are coated
5. Split the sticky mix into two!
6. Spoon half the mix into the baking tray and smooth over with a spoon
7. Spread a layer of jam/blitzed raspberries on top of the mix in a nice neat fashion. Keep it roughly in the middle and do not go too far to the corners as it could spread and burn easily

8. Spread the other half of  oat mix on top and smooth down with a spoon
9. Put in the oven for around 20 mins until golden.

10. Leave it to cool in the tin for around 10 minutes - the jam will be boiling hot!
11. Once cool and firm, cut into generous squares and serve with fresh berries or whatever you want!

Camden Town

A note from Joelle...
♫ ♪ Camden Town - Suggs  ♫ ♪ NW5 - Madness NW5 is a postcode in Camden, by the way.
A few weeks back I took a trip into Camden with two of my besties, A and H. It felt so good to be back in London, but that day it was colder than Northern Scotland. And of course, me being an idiot, I decided to wear shorts! At least my sister's  vibrant puffy jacket kept me from freezing to death!
Vintage markets are the best place to try out your haggling skills - I have definitely improved since the last time I was in Camden. It must be the cold Scottish air that has toughened me up a bit!
For those who are not familiar with Camden town, it is a really vibrant and creative place: a great haven and hangout for goths, punks and vintage-lovers. It is also  the birthplace/residence of many British artists, musicians, actors such as (Amy Winehouse, Madness, Alan Bennett, Dylan Thomas and N Dubz). The music scene is great. You may have heard of the famous KOKO club and the Electric Ballroom.
Admiring the pretty pocket watches
So cute!
SHOES!
We met the loveliest man on this stall. He even gave me a student discount on my scarf!
Beautiful trinkets and jewellery by the Camden lock
Our new rings from the market - we got great bargains as we bought them near the stall closing time!
Photos by the amazing Hannah. Find her twitter here and Pinterest here!
Have you been to Camden? What do you love about vintage markets?
