The SORTEDFood guys on Youtube are geniuses! Mixing the best winter dessert with a festive twist is a great pick-me-up after battling the icing wind and rain!
I took this recipe from their site, but added cinnamon for that extra bit of festive flavour. Who can resist the amazing aroma of ginger, toffee and cinnamon wafting around? No one! Oh and it tasted delicious too!
6 Granny Smith Apples
Pinch of cinnamon
Half a lemon
75g Cold Butter (cubed)
100g Plain Flour
4 tbsp Brown Soft Sugar
A Cup of Oats
6 Crushed Gingersnap Biscuits
125g Dark Brown Sugar
100g Single Cream
125g Golden Syrup
Chop up the apples and cook in the butter, cinnamon and lemon juice until soft
Rub cold butter into flour until golden and fully incorporated, then add the brown sugar, oats and broken biscuits
To make the toffee sauce, add in the butter, sugar, golden syrup and double cream into a pan and cook until thick and bubbly. Do not let it boil!
Pour the apple into a pie dish, then add the apples, toffee sauce and crumble topping. Bake for 30-40 mins and then serve warm with ice cream, cream or extra sauce! ***Warning! The toffee sauce is excruciatingly hot! Wait a good 20 mins before serving!
And here it is!! Let me know if you try it! It really is delicious!
