Yoo Moo!

A note from Joelle...
(**Random post alert!)
I want to share with you the things I have been loving this Summer.
I am so glad the FroYo craze has hit the UK. It's creamier, smoother and there's less guilty because there's less fat than ice cream!
I opt for YooMoo instead of Snog and Pinkberry because it's fat free and the portions are bigger.
I had stopped at the YooMoo Canary Wharf branch and treated myself to the 'BerryTwistMoo' with strawberry and natural fro-yo, with strawberries and white chocolate buttons. The cashier said I could have it free if I guessed how much it would come to (you pay by weight). I said £4.60 and it was actually £4.00! Oh man - so close!
Even though the yoghurt is in colossal portions, it's fat-free frozen yoghurty-goodness, so I felt no guilt whatsoever! You can choose your toppings and go crazy with them. Next time, I'll put more fruit on it... promise! ;)

We all saw the MTV VMAs a few night's ago right? Some of us watched in awe as Justin Timberlake and NSync reunited. Or in shock during Miley Cyrus' 'performance'. But enough about that!
In my opinion, so many celebrities looked horrendous on the red carpet - what was wrong with them?

The YouTube Generation

A note from Joelle...
Lots of teens and young adults (like myself) rarely sit down to watch TV anymore. Truth is, it's boring, not that funny anymore and uninspiring. For me, it just doesn't connect as well as YouTubers.
Through YouTube, we have found something much better...  On YouTube, there are hundreds of real-life people who have a knack for making funny, entertaining and helpful videos - and it's free to watch!
This YT phenomenon is only getting bigger, with more people being inspired to make videos and reach out to thousands of people on the receiving end.
Do you recognise any of these amazing YouTubers?
It's also great to see our favorite YouTubers making a name for themselves outside of YT as well, for example Dan Howell (danisnotonfire) and Phil Lester (Amazing Phil) now host an Award-winning Radio 1 show on Sunday nights. Not forgetting Michelle Phan's new cosmetic line 'Em'
The great thing is that's there's something for everyone. Whether you like beauty tutorials, comedy or just watching people record their daily lives, YouTube has it covered.

Here are a list of my favourites and links to their channels. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

The Brits! (Vlogging, Comedy and Beauty)

Australian Vloggers:

Do you like any YouTubers that I haven't mentioned? Let me know below!
And If you don't believe the 'YouTuber hype', think about this. I was at special concert in London and more people screamed and cheered when The Harries Twins arrived than the actual popular musicians performing at the event! It's was so interesting to see!

10 Things I don't Give A Sh*t About (Part II)

A note from Joelle...

♫ ♪ 'Know Your Enemy' - Green Day ♫ ♪

Part I of this was pretty well received (thank you!) so I thought I would do a second one, as I seem to not give a sh*t about a lot of things these days...

1. Twerking - This is the most ratchet thing ever and even more ratchet when young girls with no flesh on their bones attempt to do it in the club. No. It's awkward to watch and I'd rather have a college degree to my name instead of  the 'Miss Twerk 2013' title - Sorry.
source
2. Obeying the L and R labels on earphones - They can't tell me what to do! I'll put whichever one I want in my ear! *Flicks Hair*
source
3. The 'V' - This is the male equivalent to the 'thigh gap' craze that is sweeping the nation. Seeing boys constantly tweet/write statuses about being 'at the gym, workin' on the V' is the cringiest thing ever. If you've got one, then cool - but if you are also a  gym-obsessed-douche, no girl will look twice at you.
source
4. Annoying boy bands - They are popping up all over the place these days and it's getting ridiculous! Union J, 5 Seconds of Summer, Big Time Rush, The Vamps... okay I can't think of any more but you get my drift. They are mainly successful if their swishy hair and good-looks even if they have talent!
source
5. Being a 'Bad Bitch' - Did I miss something? Girls are actually calling themselves this, which is making it okay for men to call them that too. It's like the Feminist movements never happened!
If you consider yourself one of these and have nothing else going for you... good luck in the real world.
source
6. Following the Crowd - I still can't get my head around how weak some people are when it comes to choosing their own path. I mean, come on! You are in your 20s but you still let your friends dictate your life and are too afraid to do your own thing! Nah, I can't be dealing with people like that in 2013. Just man (or girl) up and do your own thing!
source
7. Quiffs - Who remembers the days where the only people brave enough to rock the quiff were Elvis and errr, Claire from Steps? If it's done well, then it looks nice. But because of One Direction and Bieber, all these young guys are forcing out dodgy quiffs like it's a new law!
source
8. The scientific jargon used in beauty ads - No, this is a mascara with the same ingredients and every other mascara. Adding things like 'micro-oils', 'poly-folly-dolly-molly-golly-hydro particles' makes it misleading and we won't buy something we don't understand! And putting your make-up artists in lab coats won't make you any more legit.
Acting like you have made a scientific breakthrough by using 'diamond dust' or a special chemical only found in the teeth of astronauts to reduce wrinkles is ludicrous. You are fooling no one.
source
9. Miley Cyrus - What. A. Mess. I am officially done with caring about her welfare. I know she's trying to break out of her Disney cage, which is natural, but pretending she's from the urban projects and smoking weed in public is a bit too much. Especially when millions of teen girls are growing up listening to her music and 'favouriting' her every tweet, come on Miley, sort it out. Just because you did a song with Snoop Dog, it doesn't now mean there's a spot for you in the Wu Tang Clan. She will always be Hannah Montana in my own my little sister's eyes...
source
10.  Stupid fangirls - Urgh, not a day goes by where fangirls of Bieber or One Direction are doing something crazy to get the celeb's attention. Last week, it was pretending that 42 girls had killed themselves over a documentary and this week it's sending their girlfriends online threats!
It's funny (and a bit sad) that they spend all this time and money on people that will never love them. And is it me or are these 12 year old girls getting rude as well? Their parents are doing fabulous jobs...

#BigWhenIWasLittle

A note from Joelle...

♫ ♪ 'BIG WHEN I WAS LITTLE' - ELIZA DOOLITTLE  ♫ ♪

Have you heard that new Eliza Doolittle song, 'Big When I Was Little?'. She references loads of 90s things that she loved as a child and it inspired me to write this blog post! I am a few years younger that Eliza, but we still grew up in the same era, so some of the things might overlap! Enjoy!

Skorts/Pedal Pushers - They weren't jeans, leggings, trousers or even shorts! I don't even know if 'pedal pushers' were their legit name! Every young girl owned AT LEAST three of these and in more than one colour! They were cheap and our parents said they went with everything. That was a straight up lie!
Onto skorts... *sighs*, I didn't understand them then and I don't get why they are making a comeback now!
source

Butterfly Hair Clips - What the hell even were these cheap pieces of plastic? Getting one of these little clips tangled in African-textured was PURE AGONY! And to be quite honest, no one pulled off wearing them - not even 90s idol Sarah Michelle Gellar - look how cray she looks!

source
Bandanas - Hannah from S Club 7 and the All Saints girls always wore bandannas when performing, so I HAD to get one in their honour! My collection of different coloured bandannas was pretty impressive and I had no shame wearing them almost every day during the summer holidays.
source
Weird Tops - I was never old enough to be allowed to wear these as they were quite revealing. That didn't stop my obsession for the, though. Britney, Shakira, Christina and the Spice Girls all wore them, so I really really wanted one too!  Now I look back, I don't know what I was thinking! They were so hideous!

source source
I had something really similar to this top above, and thought I looked the bomb! I didn't.

Hair Mascara - I got my first one free in issue 6 of S Club 7 magazine (How do I remember that?). It turned my hair rock hard, but I didn't care as all the kids in my neighbourhood worshipped my silver and pink highlights... Well that's what I thought!
source
Hair Crimping - I tried crimping my hair once at a sleepover and it looked soooooo bad. My hair is really short and it puffed out and looked frazzled and weird! Clearly not meant for Arfican hair!! I was still a trend that I always liked in my youth though - ghd's and Babyliss curlers were nowhere to be seen!

source
Chokers - I saw Faye from Steps with one in a music video, and I was sold from then on. She was my fashion idol back in the day, so I had to buy one too. I remember getting one in a party bag but it was too loose around my teeny neck. I stapled the loose bit over and it was so tight, I almost suffocated... True story! Lesson leant!
source
Body Gems - These were the ULTIMATE accessories when going to a friend's party or a school disco. I remember buying some with pocket money, but my mum found them and forbid me to wear them outside the house! I was also dumb enough to believe they were stuck on with a hot glue gun...

source
Roll-On Glitter -  I broke out in a rash every time I used this, but did that stop me? Of course not! All the glamorous/popular kids uses body glitter on their chest, arms and back, so I have to do it too! Lame, I know...
source
Jelly Shoes - My silver glittery shoes meant everything to me! You could wear them at the park, on the beach, out shopping with your parents, etc. The list was endless. Plus they were the comfiest shoes I ever owned!
