Hello 2014

A note from Joelle...
♥ DREAMER ♥ | via Tumblr
2013 was a fabulous year, but something is telling me that 2014 is going to be even better.

My Resolutions:
Be More Active - That's right, I WILL be taking more walks, runs, swims and dancing

Practise My Flute More - As soon as I completed my Grade 8, practise to a back seat in 2012 and 2013, but not anymore! It's a really valuable skill that I don't want to forget!

Spend a Weekend Without Technology - I have been wanting to do this for months and I will finally do it this Summer. I have blogged about it now, so there's no going back!

Save Up For a Luxury Item - I am pants at saving money and would love to have that feeling of cracking open a piggy bank and seeing hundreds of pounds to spend!

Smile More - I suffer from Chronic Bitch Face (I promise I didn't make that up) and didn't realise it until about October! I will be smiling loads this year, God willing.

Do More Yoga and Pilates - I bought a yoga mat in October, but it became a new rug in my uni bedroom...

Take Uni Work More Seriously - I have been seriously slacking and as I draw closer to graduating in 2 years, I really need to step my game up!
Dress - Boohoo
Heels - ASOS
Necklace - JOY
HollyCrown - it's actually a candle decoration, lol
And as for blog goals... I'm just going to go with the flow and see where it takes me! Making blog goals is great, but I think I will make mini monthly ones, which are more realistic!

If you are reading my blog for the first time, THANKS, and I hope you like my articles. Please feel free to follow via Google Friend Connect or Bloglovin' and come along for the ride! :)
Do you have any goals for this year?

  1. Happy New Year! x

    1. Happy New year to you too, Lorna xx

  2. A weekend without technology sounds like a great resolution!

    1. I hope I actually do it!

  3. Here is to a great 2014

  4. Great list of resolutions! For me, it would be more social and confident!

  5. I like 'smile more'

  6. I LOVE THIS! :) I was actually wondering if you can recommend any awesome places to go to in Aberdeen because I plan on going there to visit my sister and some friends in 2014! :) Thanks in advance! (I totally understand if you don't have time/are too busy to reply to this post) ;) xxx

    1. Hi Catriona! So cool that you are coming to Abers! There are sooooo many nice places in the city that I think you will like!
Firstly, Union Street is the main High Street where you can find your usual shops and restaurants. The gems are usually found on the smaller streets leads off from Union St though:

Afternoon Tea at CUP (Little Belmont St)
JamJar (The Galleria, Langstane Place) for cocktails or Korova Bar/Kitchen (8 Bridge Street), Las Iguanas (Union Square)
Bars/clubs: Snafu and Exodus (indie/Alternative), Campus and Underground (classic songs/pop). The there's Aurum, NOX, TigerTiger (R n B), Gavrilo (on thursdays). A New brewery just opened called 6 North (Little Belmont St) too
There are lots of nice restaurants in Union Square (the big shopping centre next to Aberdeen Train Station), there's also
There's also a little theme park/arcade/mini golf place by the beach, which is called Codonas
      There are 2 casinos, and
      Gigs at The Tunnels,
If you want to soak up a bit of culture, you can head to the Aberdeen Maritime Museum, which is near the port just off Union St, or the Aberdeen Art Gallery
The Lemon Tree, Tunnels and The Warehouse are great for small gigs or if you want to see a musical/play you can go to His Majesty's Theatre or The Music Hall.
You can also have a stroll around the University grounds as it's so pretty. You can even get a day pass into our amazing library (it's not like normal uni libraries!) and go to level 7. From there, you get a view of the city and the North Sea!
Also, most places have student deals so don't forget your uni ID card! :)
Sorry for the long essay! If you need more info/recommendations, please let me know :) xxx

    2. Wow! I was NOT expecting this! THANKYOU SO SO MUCH!!! :D

Those places sound really awesome (it's always good to get an insiders' view). CUP sounds really like my kind of thing (or cup of tea... haha - sorry, couldn't resist ;) ).

I think I will be going in the next few weeks, which will be nice (but cold!). I'm really into photography so I think some of those places will be perfect for picturesque views etc :)

Do you have any fashion tips/ stuff that alot of the girls in Aberdeen are wearing? What are the shops like? Are there any fashion, art or film events in Aberdeen?

Are you originally from Aberdeen? (Sorry I probably should have stalked you more haha)

I really enjoy reading your blog, it's quite original and sparky. I like your ironic take on the 'typical' blogs and stuff - it really made me laugh!

Thanks again for such a kind and detailed response - it was so lovely!!
      Lots of love from Edinburgh,

    3. No problem! Oooh I really want to go to Edinburgh in the Spring! You'll have to tell me the hotspots of teh city :)
I'm back home in London right now so don't know for sure what the girls are wearing. But I know that my friends up there are wearing those big fury cossack hats as it's freezing!
The shops are the same to be honest (although it's all made from granite, so very grey!) and as for fashion/film events, they mainly happen after Summer, but you never know!
Here's some good sites that you can check out if you want:
