5 Ways To Relax

The people closest to me know that this isn't a word I like at all. It's mainly because I cannot actually relax in the same way others can.
We're constantly told to 'take a break' and have 'me time', but I find that really, really difficult for some reason! I am not one of those girls that finds soaking in the bubble bath with wine and a book relaxing (worst woman ever, I know!!).

When I get a spare moment, I make lists, catch up on emails, create/think up new projects and for me, that is 'relaxation'. But I am learning the more conventional stuff too! Here are my top 5:

1. Calm.com - This site is genius! You can access it on your laptop/tablet, but I really recommend getting the free app as well. The moment you click in, you're transported to either a soothing beach, rain forest or mountain. I have it on in the background when I am working or taking a nap and the natural sounds are the best thing ever! On the app, there is also real footage from all the natural locations.
There is even a timer and ('lessons' in breathing and being calm), so that you can schedule effectively and fit it into your day.
If you couldn't tell already, I really recommend this app! 

2. Massages - Why have I only just discovered them???? I (and the masseuse) was shocked to find how many knots and points of tension I had in my neck and back. Even after one session, my posture was stronger and I felt loads better.
I go to my local Pure Spa as they are real, friendly experts and also do student deals. But I am willing to try the cheaper Chinese herbal masseuse nearer to me.

3. Herbal/fruit Teas - Before you roll your eyes and stop reading, these are sooooooo soothing. Even though you are tempted to pop open some wine or bubbly, herbal/fruit teas have around 3-4 calories!
If you find herbal/green teas tasteless and gross, why not add a bit of organic honey or a slice of lemon? It makes a world of difference and even helps to speed up weight loss and reduce stress!
I no longer drink my normal Earl Grey and instead drink a lot of Jasmine Tea and Twinning Fruit teas. My skin is clearing up now that I'm flushing all of that caffeine out! Woohoo! 

4. Scented Candles - *typical blogger thing to like!* I get quite tense around candles, as I have set things aflame all the time. But burning a beautiful Yankee candle or a luxury branded one can really lift you out of stress and put you in a more relaxed mood. 
The scented candles from Matalan are also pretty fab!

5. Disconnect - This is the hardest one by far! Switching off (and I mean OFF) electronic devices isn't a popular choice as most of us are so attached to our phones, laptops, tablets, iPods, etc. But having a few minutes or hours to yourself without hearing your phone pining is sheer bliss!
