Monochrome x iKRUSH

A note from Joelle...
'Monochrome in Spring, Joelle? Who does that?' I do and I'm proud! The blossom might be in full bloom and the sky may no longer be grey, but there's always a place of a nice bit of monochrome stripes, am I right?
I was kindly allowed to review this stunning iKrush dress and it is just a great fit! My body is big on top- then slim - then big around the waist so it is difficult to wear maxi dresses and pull them off!
The material is stretchy, so it accommodates my curvy chest and hips well. The pattern (as you can see) is made up of black lines that curve around the dress, which is something I don't think I have seen before.
I have a ball coming up on Friday and this dress is definitely a contender! It is floor-length (apologies for no full pictures, my tripod is slightly broken) and has a cheeky thigh split on one side!

This dress is definitely a 'wowwwww' dress and here's how Aussie supermodel Ajak Deng wears it:
source
We're practically twins, right? ;)
So how much do you think this dress is? Maybe around £40 or £30? NOPE! You can buy it for £13 from the iKrush site. Sweeeeeet!

I wanted all emphasis to be on the dress, so I styled it with a simple, spiky monochrome-ish necklace from New Look and my ASOS scaper heels (also by New Look).
What do you think of this dress? Let me know below!

Crowning Glory

A note from Joelle...
I loooooove a good flower crown and own four different types! They remind me of dainty fairies in children's tales, summer festivals and the good old English Summertime!
Back in 2011, Lana Del Rey made them chic again and since then, they keep on coming back into style this time of year (YAY!).
But I have seen some ridiculous prices for some - *coughs*, I'm looking at you, Urban Outfitters. £210 for a crown? REALLY??
Here are some affordable, dainty crowns I found on the web that sell to UK buyers! Hope you like my selection!

Do you like flower crowns or are they not your thing? Let me know below!

Sunflowers In Soho

A note from Joelle...
Hi guys! I hope you're all well-rested after the Easter holidays.
A few days back, I hopped on a train to London to meet up with Hannah for drinks and a bite to eat.
She's a proper London working-girl now and witnessing her becoming a part of the fashion industry is amazing!
I am wearing a floral skirt from Monki. I went to the Carnaby St store last summer and found it hidden right at the back! Even though I am not the biggest fan of floral print, this one was more artsy and symmetrical!
My top is actually a playsuit (I seem to do that a lot!) from In Love With Fashion.
My sunflower headband was about £2 from Primark years ago. I bought it on a whim and have never worn it until now!
*WARNING: don't wear this in a place with lots of bees...

Great minds really do think alike, because we both wore cobalt blue and black!
Hannah is looking chic in her cobalt blue skater dress from Topshop and leather biker jacket from River Island!
She checked out my 'Backpack Attack' post and bought this beaut of a bag from Urban Outfitters that I featured!
Any spring trends you are loving at the moment?

Style File #19: Nina Nesbitt // STEAL HER STYLE

A note from Joelle...

♫♪ 'The Apple Tree' - Nina Nesbitt ♫♪

It has been aaaaaaaages since my last 'Style File' post (sorry!), but it's back with a bang as this time, it's all about the uber-stylish singer Nina Nesbitt!
It was a total pleasure to meet Nina at the Company Rising Stars party last year and she is genuinely the nicest and most talented girl ever!
Nina's Style is quirky, full of colour and really versatile, which is contributing to making her a FROW- regular at London Fashion Week.
Here's how to steal her (Summer) style for less!

What do you think of Nina's style?

Meat Liquor, London

A note from Joelle...

♫♪ 'New Soul' - Yael Naim ♫♪

Curiosity is an interesting thing,  right? That, with a hint of word-of-mouth can really make or break restaurants, but it have definitely worked in favour of Meat Liquor.
Foodies flock from every corner of London to try these burgers and have the 'Meat Liquor Experience'. And most of it is simply from hearing about it through twitter or their pals!
I was warned that if we didn't get there early enough (as in 5pm), we would be forced to wait in the freezing cold for a few hours!
Nevertheless, we got there just after 6.30pm and there was no queue outside, just a couple awkwardly arguing...
On that note, we practically ran into the restaurant, not taking any chances with this rare moment!
We were kindly greeted by a waiter who took us to a table in the corner near the bar. The cocktail menu was short 'n' sweet, just the way I like it and we both ordered the 'Summer of Love' (£7.50). I really, really liked it as did Hannah.

Our drinks arrived in these big glasses, which I was happy about because I can't stand teeny martini glasses that you take finish in one gulp!
We then went for two bacon cheese burgers, £8 (minus the pickles and mustard), regular fries and cheese fries also. It wasn't a long wait, which was excellent because we were both starving.
Look at that meaty, fried goodness!
Excuse my face, the flash was really bright!
Hannah and I both agreed that the burgers were insanely good. From the super-soft brioche bun to the crispy bacon and tender beef patty. It was reaaaaally good.
What let the meal down, though were the sides. The regular fries (£3) were too salty. I thought they would be served without seasoning so we could add our prefered amount of salt/pepper. But there was no seasoning on the table for a reason...
The cheese fries (£4) had more grated onion than cheese and fries, which was a let-down! I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to scrape of the mountain of mushy onion onto a side dish because it was so pungent and unnecessary. In the end, we didn't finish it as it was too much flavour-wise.

Another slight issue was the lighting and the noise. It was so dark, that we had to order our food and drink with our iPhone flashlights hovering over the menus.
But it's not like the waiter even heard our choices, because the music was too loud and people on other tables were getting insanely drunk and rowdy.... at 6.34pm... on a Tuesday night.
The lack of lighting meant I had to use flash when taking pics, which seemed to startle the girls on the table next to us every time (#sorrynotsoory), so I only took about three to stop them from complaining to the staff - I could tell they were about to.

By the time we got up and left, there was an enormous queue of grumpy, hungry-looking people outside. I felt for them, I really did - sort of...
If you like meat, grease and dark lighting... this is the restaurant for you! It's clearly great for boozy, raucous nights with your mates/colleagues.
But if you want a place to date/chat and not get messy, you may have to give Meat Liquor a miss.

The Body Shop Mango Body Butter

A note from Joelle...
Hi lovelies!
I was thrilled to be kindly gifted this Body Shop Mango Body Butter to review. The late Anita Roddick is still one of my heroes and the work she did to create The Body Shop was legendary and groundbreaking.
I have to admit I was a bit apprehensive about trying the butter because I am so used to using my Palmer's cocoa butter as my go-to moisturizer. I down own the Body Shop strawberry and raspberry body butters though, so I knew this one would be along the same lines. Nonetheless, I tried this out for a week and here's what happened!
What I did: I just used this body butter instead of my regular cocoa butter for a week to see how it matched up.
After every shower/bath, I scooped up a small bit of the butter at a time and massaged it into my skin, all over (except the face, as that bit is quite oily.)
I knew from the website that it would be thick and creamy, so I thought I'd have to really go to work and massage quite hard to get it into my skin (like a raw cocoa butter product), but I was wrong again!
The butter practically melts when I place it on my skin after a shower, and it becomes thinner and easier to work into the skin, which is really clever!
My body was left smelling awesome and really moisturised and I didn't need to top up during the day at all.
What is also interesting about the mango body butter is that after you have used it, you are left with soft hands and not massively oily hands! This is great because I am sick and tired of having to constantly wash my hands vigorously with soap to get oil off and then having to apply a hand cream straight after to stop the dryness.
The scent is not how a fresh mango smells, but it does kind of smell like mango lassi, which is an Asian yoghurt drink I've been having a lot recently. Nonetheless, it is a pleasant, fresh and summery scent.

Packaging: Nice and vibrant, the way I like it. I really like the 3D effect of the mando leaf (as you can see in the image above).
For hygienic reasons, it would have been even better in a dispenser-style bottle, like other butters, but that's just my preference.

Overall, this is a really, really good body butter for people with very dry skin. It's lighter on the skin than I thought it would be and I will continue to use it for the rest of the summer!
Therefore I recommend it and you can purchase from HERE.
Have you tried this product or any Body Shop products?

All Choked Up

A note from Joelle...
Just letting you know that chokers/short chains are back and I get to relive my 90s youth again!
I remember Gwen Stefani from No Doubt always wore chokers and that grunge look really fascinated me!
Even though I was never allowed to wear one, I had one that came free in a kid's magazine and thought I was the coolest person ever!

Are/were you a fan of choker necklaces?

London Blogger Brunch

A note from Joelle...
It's been a while since my last London blogger meet, and I reeaaaaaally wanted to go to a chilled one in London before I jet back up to The Deen. Luckily enough, Catherine from Lux Life Blog organised a London Blogger's Brunch at The Providores, Marylebone, which I was more than thrilled to be able to attend!
After a friendly intro, we got stuck in and ordered drinks. I went for the mixed berry smoothie, which was DIVINE!
First up was a mini taster of brown rice pudding with raspberry jam. After the first taste, it's safe to say it wasn't for me. But it looked pretty, so here's a picture!
I then chose the french toast with banana/pecan filling and bacon with lashing of vanilla syrup. Sweet, salty, crunchy and soft all at the same time!
I had to take a cheeky snap of  these eggs and hot smoked salmon - just look at it!
After the brunch, a small group of us remained for more chit-chat about blogging and other bits 'n' bob. It was a really chilled atmosphere and was just so lovely to finally meet people I talk to blog stalk so much on twitter!
We have promised to meet up again for afternoon tea later this year and I hope that happens!
Have you ever been to a meetup? What would your perfect meetup be? :)

Floaty Florals with InLoveWithFashion + Boohoo

A note from Joelle...

♫♪ 'WHENEVER, WHEREVER' - Shakira ♫♪

Hellooooooooo! I hope you're well and are enjoying the lovely Spring sunshine!
I'd like to share with you a new playsuit I bought from InLoveWithFashion last month! You can find it HERE and it's only £7!!
I decided to pair it with my trusted ASOS Platform heels and Swamp Green Kimono from Boohoo that I at LFW wore two season's ago. It hasn't had much use since, as it's been freeeeeezing and the material is really thin!
I am also getting a lot more comfortable taking outfit pictures outdoors, YAY!
I believe I can flyyyyyyyy
As the playsuit and kimono are earthy with nature themes, I matched it with a big golf leaf bangle from H&M and a birdcage necklace from a vintage store!
What do you think of this outfit? Let me know below! Have a good day :)

Our Teen Lives Through Beyonce

A note from Joelle...
You may not have realised this, but Queen B has been controlling our lives since, well forever (okay, maybe  2004). Not sure you believe me? Well let's break it down with a little story...
source

source
2) You may be getting a bit too big headed and your friends start to talk about you and your man behind your back - 'Diva'

3) You ignore the haterrrz and decide to take the next step and move in together - 'Drunk In Love'

4) You're totally loved up and think that he's the only thing that matters right now - 'Partition'

5) Everything's all hunky dory until you hear rumours that your man has been cheating - 'Ring The Alarm'
source
6) You stand by your man through the cheating allegations because you know that he would never hurt you like that - 'Crazy In Love'
source
7) You finally confront him and try to make him see why you're so upset about the rumours - 'If I Were A Boy'
source
8) He finally confesses to cheating after weeks of lying and you've had enough - 'Single Ladies'
source
9) You're just too damn emosh - 'Listen'
10) You blame yourself for your failed relationship and to make things worse your friends aren't returning your calls - 'Why Don't You Love Me?'

11) Then you realise he's a prick and it's not your fault at all  - 'Irreplaceable'

12) You buy some new clothes, dye your hair and finally feel a bit better about the situation - 'Me, Myself and I'
source
13) But then some random girl contacts you via twitter claiming to be the 'other woman' that destroyed your relationship - 'Beautiful Liar' (with Shakira)
source
14) After weeks of moping around, your girlfriends have encouraged you to get back out there and go clubbing as a singleton - 'Move Your Body'
source
15) You turn up to the club with your girls and you're getting a lot of male attention! - 'Naughty Girl'
source
16) The drinks are flowing and you feel euphoric! However, your wasteman-of-an-ex is constantly ringing you. But you're in the club and just ignore all the calls - 'Telephone' (with Lady Gaga)
source
17) You leave the club with your girls and find you ex queuing outside with yet another girl.
source
18) All your feelings for him suddenly come rushing back - 'Countdown'
source
19) Turns out it was actual drunken vomit rushing back and not feelings. You projectile all over the girl's glittery dress - 'Deja Vu'
Beyoncé - Oops
source
19) Your friends drag you by the arm and you all run away laughing (Except you. You just threw up on a stranger...)
source
20) You stop for a hug (and a breath mint) and finally feel that you are back on the right track -'Run The World (Girls)'
source
21) You realise that your life isn't actually that bad and everything will be fine as long as your friends and family are beside you - 'Love On Top'
source
Aaaaand the cycle carries on like that until your mid 20s...Thanks Bey!

Have i just invented 'Beyonce: The Musical'? I think so!! ;)
This post was sooo random, but I hope you liked it! What's your favourite Beyonce song?
