Summer Maxi Dresses With Apricot

A note from Joelle...

♫♪'Don't Dream It's Over' - Crowded House ♫♪

Long time, no see (on the fashion side of things!), right?
Today I bring you my latest OOTD from my first outing back in London this Summer.
You know what? Even though I was born and (partially) raised in London, being around so many people/cars/buildings freaked me out a little.
Living on Skye where the only thing I saw for two months where cows, sheep and the odd farmer on a quadbike has messed with my brain!
Anyway, Hannah and I were out and about and I wanted to share with you my outfit. Apricot Dresses are always stunning and I have a new one to share with you!
(*iPhone quality, soz)
Safari animal necklace - Topshop << this gold necklace has giraffes, elephants, gazelles, leopards and other African animals and I think that's so cool and different! Pairing it with the busy geometric print was a good idea due to the lovely compliments I got *blushes*.

Due my my recent weight-loss this dress was rather baggy around the waist but to be honest, that did me fine on such a sweltering day on the London Underground.
These types of maxi dresses that hover over the ground are perfect because you're not tripping all over the place. It's a great length to kind of 'glide' across the floor as it covers your shoes.
Geometric Maxi Dress - Apricot (*)
This dress will probably make many more appearances this summer, so I can't wait to shoot it on my blogging camera once it's fixed!

What Hannah Wore:
Hannah, aka the most stylish person I've ever met wore this lovely outfit.
Her metal necklace is from a vintage store in Milan (oooh, fancy!)
Tassel kimono - Pull and Bear
Jeans  - River Island
Sandals - Topshop
Oversized Bag - Urban Outfitters

I hope you're well and thanks for reading. What are your thoughts on maxi dresses in the Summer?

Skye's The Limit: Photo Diary

A note from Joelle...

♫♪ 'Wings' - Birdy (acoustic) ♫♪

Today was the 48th day in the Isle of Skye and also my last day here before I pack up my things and head home for summer.
I was here to carry out about 40 days of independent geological mapping here for my dissertation, in case you were wondering.
It's been a whirlwind of seven weeks, with many highs, a few lows and so many friends made along the way!
On some days, I danced with glee on top of cliffs and on other days, I wept on the beaches (yup, that actually happened!).
I held some newborn ducklings and held a lamb as it died :(.
All I know now is that this trip has taught me a lot about friendship, adventure, hard work, curiosity and self-discovery.
As we crossed the bridge from the mainland to Skye 7 weeks ago, I told my friend Eimhear that we would not return as the same people. And I think I was right!
We are much better/stronger/smarter people and it's been a pleasure to share this trip with her!

Anyway, that's enough from me! Here are some pictures of Skye that I took with my trusty iPhone - Enjoy!
 Sunset over Blaven
The famous sandstone"honeycomb" weathering in Elgol
I found a HUGE belemnite (ancient squid) fossil on the beach!
If you've been to Skye, you'll know about its horizontal rain!
The Drinan Jurassic coast is packed with these cute cavities
Skye Cows give zero fucks about you
This one hated my guts! Look at the shade she's throwing me! #DemonCow
 I wasn't joking - they just don't care!
I found this cute holiday cottage in Elgol
I treated my mapping pals to my special Eton Mess
 Beauts
 Mapping here wasn't so bad!
 Not a bad view, eh?
I hoped you like looking at my pictures from Skye. It's been an incredible trip!

RECIPE: Eton Mess

A note from Joelle...

♫♪ 'Blame It On Me' - George Ezra ♫♪

Happy Monday (Ya twistin' ma melon, man) to you all!
Today, I bring you a recipe I have made basically every Summer, but it never gets old!

You will need (serves 4):
8 Meringue nests
A punnet of fresh Strawberries
A punnet of fresh Raspberries
A pot of Double cream
1 tbsp Icing(confectioner's) sugar
1 tsp Vanilla extract

Method:
1.Pour the cream and vanilla extract into a clean, cold bowl
2.Use a balloon whisk to whip up the double cream, sugar and vanilla until the cream is thick. (an electric whisk is okay, but it can sometimes give the cream a weird foamy texture)
3. Crush up the meringues into sizeable chunks (not too small, as it will dissolve into the cream) and add to the mixture
4. Add in the fresh berries
5. fold everything in until it's a big 'ol mess.
6. Add a sprig of mint and enjoy!

If you're feeling more adventurous, why not try a decadent Eton Mess with black cherries, chocolate curls and chopped hazelnuts, with a drop (or two... or three) of Bailey's in the cream?
Or you could do an Autumn Eton Mess with poached pears/plums/peaches and cinnamon apples?
Mmmmmmmmmmm.
The possibilities are endless - Season's Eatings!

6 TV Shows You Need To Watch

A note from Joelle...
Empire
THIS SHOW! Oh my goodness, this show is one of the best programmes right now. It's in it's first series and is about a guy who runs 'Empire', an Urban record label. The only problem is that he has ALS and about three years to live and therefore has to choose one of his three sons to take over the business. Oh and his crazy ex-wife has just got out of a 17 year jail sentence and want half the company...
The original music is amazing and the acting is first class!

My Mad Fat Diary
This is an amazing teen comedy written by Rae Earl. It's actually a memoir about her teenage years growing up in the 90s as an overweight and overcoming her mental illness. There's tonnes of drama, romance and really funny/cringey bits!
Oh, and Nico Mirallegro (aka BAE) is in it.
The third and final series has just aired, but you can check out all the past episodes on Channel 4.

Jane The Virgin
This show has a very random plot, by it's so addictive and is the breath of fresh air TV audiences needed. Basically, Jane is waiting until she's married (because of her Granny's beliefs) before sleeping with her fiance. But she is accidentally inseminated and gets pregnant.
The she is narrated like a Telenovela and is super funny. It kind of reminds me of a modern Ugly Betty.
Gina Rodriguez who plays Jane won a Golden Globe this year for her amazingly hilarious performance as Jane.

Girls
What I love about this TV series is that it's like nothing that's ever been on TV before. Sure, there have been shows about women's lives like 'Sex and the City', but this is so much more relatable and (dare I say it) more down to earth!
Hannah, Marnie, Shoshanna and Jessa are dysfunctional, funny, emotional and most of all... AMBITIOUS!

Game Of Thrones
I know, I know, I'm that guy who jumped on the bandwagon when series three aired. But honestly, this show is amazing. Yes they kill off about 10 characters an episode, but it's so addictive.

Tattoo Fixers
This is a new show that I can't stop watching! Basically, a group of incredible tattoo artists sort out people's dodgy tattoos and turn them into real work of art.
It's making me really want to get inked!

Got any shows you're loving at the moment?
